The Atomic Model.

The Atomic Model.  Ulises Vargas  November 27, 2023.  Can you hear it? The bells, chiming like the waves on a free and sunny coast. Grass, trees, the winds—singing so soothingly, like the rocking lull of mother or the elegant background music, but not static,  like they must play at happy nurseries.  Come, feel this fur.  Isn’t it so nice—how it runs through the grooves, the grooves of your fingerprints.  Fingertips titillating and smiling.  And, come, feel this cloth.  It’s smooth; it’s artisanally woven.  The strings, think about them. Really think.  Distinguish each one of them, and appreciate the effort; the craftsmanship of this cloth.  I can’t believe it, that I’m alive  and all these little things have even littler things within. So what does that mean about me?  The monologue in my head narrates my life,  and its waves can be calm or hectic.  What are those waves ma...

A pity, and dreadfully stubborn.

A pity, and dreadfully stubborn.  Ulises Vargas  November 27, 2025. Is there a set number of experiences which one person can live in a lifetime— a universal and set holding of experiences for everyone? No, of course not. Some people experience more than others: they take life as a challenge to play, explore, and discover.  Then, there’s some people with age, but without appropriate experience. Experience is not equal; not every lifetime lives as much life:  One person’s two months of experiences, development, and activity  is another’s three days full of adventure.  How pitiful, those who live once a week and not at all.  How pitiful, when they become envious of the ambitious superstar,  wishing that they could trade lives.  How pitiful, when they die and leave behind only a short memoir at a lone and quiet funeral.  Yet, still more pitiful,  is how they chose to live that way and then died that way.  Wa...

You Showed Me So Much that I Cannot Forget.

You Showed Me So Much that I Cannot Forget.  Ulises Vargas  November 17, 2025. Is this hell–this place you’ve put me in? I can’t believe that I trusted you enough In all our time together, where I thought we shared some vulnerability.  To let you show me what life could possibly be  What my life could feel like all because of you  Nothing, like you, could ever compare; Convincing myself that life now is just as fine as when I had you  Steals all my hopes, ambitions, and spirit Nothing, like you, could ever compare  Goddamn if I ever thought I was happy, without you there  Goddamn if I’ll ever be happy again, since you disappeared  You must love ruining lives  That window into a fantasy which you opened,  Is my dragon to chase forever  All the while, you must know that my health longs for you  But, what leverage do I hold?  Nothing more than a clingy nuisance,  I know my everything...

Swings of Passivity.

Swings of Passivity. Ulises Vargas  November 15, 2025.  It feels like I constantly need a break  Or some sort of instant relief  From the stress of the world and I  Life goes on, from temporary cure-to-futile escape, Which, without them, would leave me suffering  With no window into a world free of woes  A drink on the weekends,  Undoes the winding which the week brings Should I miss the chance to unwind,  Then no peace of tomorrow may be guaranteed  Even a droning white noise,  Or the most settling sunset,  Or the soft breeze of winds licking me,  Could calm me so deeply  In void of any chemical relief  Quite the social butterfly,  I stay silent and stare down  If my system is unimpaired  By some chemically-induced serenity  It seems that the only party I can bring Is the reluctant trudge of showing up; Going through the motions  A great day Is one full of...
