The Song of Silence.

The Song of Silence.

Surrounded by too much

To take in all at once

I try to focus

Between the lines

Of bright colors and loud noises

The fabric on my skin

Pulls taut yet loose;

Such an unsettling balance,

I rather not wear it at all

Words file in,

Drowning among my thoughts;

And the turmoil within,

Of the constant screaming

I can’t comprehend

The noise, its deafening

The light, its blinding

My eyes, are shutting

I’m dying,

Of the nothing in everything

Pull the curtains;

Leave my skin;

Cover my ears

Let some peace of mine

Come up from within

To take center stage

And sing nothing for a change
