Fire Must Burn.
Fire Must Burn.
Ulises Vargas
November 21, 2024.
Lightspeed, my blood.
Might see, me red.
Uneasy, even in bed.
It wasn’t love, in the end.
Betrayal, over wine and ale,
Betrayal, with a kiss and without tell.
Loyal, till loyalty failed.
Royal, till the crown fell.
Now I see the fool I’ve been.
How wrong and cool you’ve been.
A jester to the queen’s amusement.
Gestures all to your bemusement.
Conjectures after lectures,
You plead your case, no need to save face.
Mixtures of love and hate,
Fixtures between lust and disgust,
Fire must burn till dusk.
Admire the flames, and former disdain.
As ashes form, as an old life dies.
As firm as stone, a romance loses life.
